Ampati College declared as People’s College
Launching a direct attack in the Trinamol Congress’s citadel, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday announced the inclusion of Ampati Degree College, South West Garo Hills under the ambit of the People’s College Grant-in-Aid Scheme.
Sangma congratulated the College for its remarkable service to the students of the area.
Meanwhile at Chapahati, South West Garo Hills, Sangma distributed cheques worth Rs 28 Lakhs to 41 Farmer Producer Groups through the FOCUS program.
“Our aim to double farmers’ income will bear fruit through our mission mode interventions”, he said.
On Tuesday the chief minister disbursed Rs 21.75 Lakhs as financial assistance to 30 Farmer Producer Groups under FOCUS program at Denaminggre under Samanda Block, East Garo Hills District.
As the biggest Farmers’ welfare program, FOCUS aims to cover a community of 4.5 Lakh farmers in Meghalaya.
Sangma at Denaminggre, East Garo Hills, inaugurated the MGNREGS 165 m. Submersible Bridge over Simsang & Kampil river constructed at a cost of Rs 2.35 Cr.
The convergent project was completed with Rs 1.59 Crore from MGNREGS, Rs 25 Lakhs from IBDLP and Rs 51.07 Lakhs from PWD.
The Chief Minister laid foundation for the upgradation & improvement of the Rongram-Rongrenggre-Darugre road in East Garo Hills District under the Meghalaya Integrated Transport Project of World Bank India at Denaminggre.
The upgradation work will be initiated at a cost of Rs 75.69 Crores.
He inaugurated the MGNREGS Suspension Footbridge over river Simsang at Chisobibra, East Garo Hills district constructed at Rs 2.07 Cr.
This 140m. long Suspension Bridge is a convergence project with Rs 1.92 Cr (Approx) from MGNREGS & Rs 15 Lakhs from IBDLP.
Dedicating the bridge to the people, Sangma lauded the community effort of the VECs in the construction of the bridge.
