Android tablets distributed to ASHA workers in Jowai
In a significant initiative to strengthen healthcare delivery, the District Medical and Health Officer of West Jaintia Hills, Jowai, distributed Android tablets to ASHA workers from Thadlaskein and Laskein C&RD Blocks. The program was held on October 8 at the District Library Auditorium, Mynthong.
Local MLA and Chairman of MUDA, Wailadmiki Shylla, attended as the chief guest, alongside Deputy Commissioner BS Sohliya, IAS, and health officials, including Dr. K Dhar (District Medical & Health Officer, Jowai), Additional DM&HO Dr. P Shylla, District Surveillance Officer Dr. M Syngkon, District Health Manager (National Health Mission) Rapki Shullai, and BDO of Thadlaskein C&RD Block Dr. H Niang.
In his address, Wailadmiki Shylla praised the dedication and hard work of the ASHA workers, highlighting their critical role in improving grassroots healthcare. He acknowledged their efforts in conducting health surveys, monitoring maternal and child healthcare, and raising awareness about various government health schemes.
Shylla stated that the introduction of Android tablets will enable ASHA workers to perform their duties more efficiently and deliver services with greater ease and accuracy. He expressed confidence that this initiative will enhance the overall healthcare system in the region.
Thadlaskein C&RD Block is served by one Community Health Centre (CHC) and three Public Health Centres (PHC), supported by 170 ASHA workers. Meanwhile, Laskein C&RD Block has one CHC and five PHCs, supported by 100 ASHA workers, who play a vital role in delivering essential health services to the community.
