Anime and Digital Learning at Shillong Book Fair
The Shillong Book Fair, organized by the National Book Trust under the Ministry of Education, continued to engage book lovers on its third day at the State Central Library. The event featured a diverse range of books, with a notable interest in the animanga genre.
Jordan Nongsiej, a Class VIII student, expressed his enthusiasm for anime, highlighting the fair’s appeal to young readers.
A key highlight was an informative session on the Rashtriya e-Pustakalaya, a new digital library platform. Young attendees eagerly explored its features, discovering various digital resources.
The children’s corner buzzed with over 400 participants, starting with a cursive writing workshop led by Kasturi Sharma. Selfie points captured the joy of young visitors, while a self-defence session by Shubham Adhikari from the Meghalaya Taekwondo Association taught essential moves, impressing attendees like six-year-old Master Rudra Vir Chettri.
The day concluded with cultural performances, including Garo dances and music from the folk group Mookhuri, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
The fourth day, on October 8, 2024, will feature a Musical Storytelling session, a Portrait Making Workshop, and an orientation on Rashtriya e-Pustakalaya, followed by a book discussion on Buddhist Iconography and performances by the PynterOrchestra Group and Kupar Shadap’s band.
