ANVC-B accuses govt of double standards over cases against ex-militants
Disbanded Achik National Volunteers Council – Breakaway (ANVC-B) on Sunday slammed the state government for its double standard attitude by not withdrawing cases against the former leaders of the outfit.
Former ANVC-B secretary, Deepan G Momin in a statement said the cadres are not happy with the government’s double standard.
He said the government violated the Agreed Text for Settlement by not withdrawing cases against the leaders of ANVC-B while it has relaxed the cases registered against the terrorist leader who was arrested in Bangladesh and now roam scot free.
“The political leaders who are running the state government is using the terrorist leader for the political mileage through various angles,” Momin alleged.
He said the government has also relaxed cases against other militant groups but have slapped more cases on ANVC-B leaders.
“They did not even have proper review meeting which clearly show that they are trying to derail the agreement for strengthening of Garo Hills Autonomous District Council to Territorial Council,” he said.
The former leader also alleged that the government has borrowed the money sent by the Centre for the rehabilitation of more than hundred cadres who has been verified 5 times now.
