Armed drug traffickers arrested in West Jaintia Hills

In an alarming trend of illegal drug transactions, drug traffickers are now armed with pistol for ensuring smooth transactions of the business with their clients in West Jaintia Hills District.
This came to light with the arrest of three persons engaged in drugs peddling in NH-6 along West Jaintia Hills District on Tuesday.

According to Superintendent of Police, West Jaintia Hills District Bikram D Marak, acting on the inputs that some drugs peddling is taking place in Jowai, an operation was conducted by ANTF & waylaid the suspected persons & vehicles tracing to Ialong park.
Marak said that from the possessions of 3 person arrested, one 7.65mm pistol with magazine & 4 live ammo, one long dagger and cash of Rs 4 (four) lakhs.

The SP said nine soap boxes containing suspected heroin & 1(one) small bottle stuffed with suspected heroin amounting to total 108 gms.

3 (three) mobile phones and two vehicles viz Maruti Gypsy and one local taxi used by the arrested person for communication and transportation were taken to custody by police, Marak informed.
