Arunachal CM, Dy CM among 10 BJP candidates win unopposed in assembly polls
In a significant turn of event, 10 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates, including chief minister Pema Khandu and deputy chief minister Chowna Mein were declared elected unopposed in the assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh.
Now, the elections for 50 seats will be held on April 19, during the first phase of Lok Sabha polls.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Arunachal Pradesh BJP announced the candidates’ names who were declared unopposed in the elections.
According to the list, chief minister Pama Khandu was elected unopposed from the 3-Mukto constituency, deputy chief minister Chowna Mein was elected unopposed from 46-Chowkham constituency in this election.
Eight other candidates who won the election unopposed are Ratu Techi from 15-Sagalia, Jikke Tako from 20-Tali, Nyato Dukam from 23 Taliha, Mutchu Mithi from 43-Roing, Hage Apa from 17-Ziro-Hapoli, Techi Kaso from 13-Itanagar, Dongru Sionhju from 7-Bomdila and Dasanglu Pul from 45-Hayuliang constituency.
Taking to X, Khandu said: “Dear people of 3-Jang Mukto Constituency, I’m grateful for your love, unwavering support, and electing me unopposed for the third time and fourth time in a row. Your trust strengthens my dedication to serve you better. I shall continue to work hard to build a prosperous future for our constituency and the state.”
In another post, Khandu said: “Celebrated the unopposed win of 10 @BJP4Arunachal Assembly candidates with Minister and in-charge Ashok Singhal ji along with Deputy CM Chowna MeinBJP Ji and party karyakartas at BJP karyalay.”
“It’s all because of the people’s love and trust in #ModiKiGuarantee and our dedication in ensuring all-round development of the state,” he added.
In a post on X, Union minister Kiren Rijiju said: “A rocking start for @BJP4India from the ‘Land of Rising Sun’- Arunachal Pradesh. 10 MLA Candidates of BJP are declared- elected unopposed. I extend congratulations to all 10 BJP MLA-Elects. PM @narendramodi ji’s wave is blowing from the Northeast to every part of India.”
Taking to X, Mein said: “My heartfelt thanks to the people of Chongkham and Wakro for your love and trust upon me and for sending me unopposed as your representative from the 46-Chowkham (ST) Assembly Constituency.”
“The unwavering support and confidence rendered by the people to BJP is immense. It has further emboldened our commitment to work for the welfare of the people and further development of the State. I look forward to continue serving my people with renewed dedication,” Mein added.
