Arunachal CM warns government employees against corruption
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday issued a stern warning to individuals, particularly government employees, who engage in corrupt practices for personal gain.
Speaking at the Passing-Out Parade ceremony of the 49th batch of Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) recruits at the Police Training Centre (PTC), Banderdewa, Khandu addressed rumours of bribes being demanded for the regularization of contractual ANM and GNM nurses in the health department.
“I have been repeating my warning against corruption from every possible platform,” Khandu stated. “I have personally requested Director General of Police (DGP) Anand Mohan to thoroughly investigate the matter. If there is any truth to the rumors, those involved will not be spared.”
Khandu emphasized that the state cabinet has already decided to regularize the positions of contractual nurses in batches. Expressing surprise at reports of individuals willing to pay for job regularization, he questioned, “Why will you pay to get regularized when the government has already decided to regularize your job?”
The Chief Minister assured strict action if the allegations were found to be true and urged the new police recruits to stand firm against corruption in all forms.
Khandu congratulated the 49th batch of APP recruits, which comprises the largest contingent to date with 885 constables. The batch includes 738 Civil Police personnel, including 96 Lady Constables, 140 AAPBn personnel, 14 Lady Constables and 7 IRBn personnel.
“I extend my warmest congratulations to all the recruits who have completed their rigorous training,” Khandu said. “You have now earned your place in the illustrious Arunachal Pradesh Police family. Your journey so far has been one of discipline, resilience, and determination, and today, you stand ready to serve with honour and distinction.”
Khandu highlighted several initiatives taken to address long-standing grievances within the police force, including, approval of a proposal in October to grant Special Grade promotions to Police Constables, Head Constables, and Assistant Sub-Inspectors across various branches, including MT and Telecom wings, Special Grade promotions awarded to 1,716 constables with over 20 years of service, announced during the 46th Raising Day celebration of APP and the successful training of 1,081 personnel in 2024, including 109 Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) and 42 Recruit Firemen.
The ceremony, attended by dignitaries such as Home Minister Mama Natung, Advisor Home Mutchu Mithi, and several MLAs and ministers, marked a significant milestone for Arunachal Pradesh Police. Family members of the recruits and other officials also witnessed the event.
