The event celebrated the arrival of spring and the start of the cultivation season with the Adi community. He was joined by Education Minister P.D Sona and other dignitaries.
In his address, Mein highlighted the festival’s role in promoting nature conservation and biodiversity, urging the community to uphold their ancestral commitment to environmental sustainability. He emphasized that tribal communities have coexisted with nature for generations and must continue preserving natural resources for future generations.
“This festival should be recognized as a conservation festival, reflecting the Adi community’s deep respect for nature and their responsibility to safeguard it,” Mein said. He also encouraged youth participation in cultural traditions to keep them alive.
Speaking on the State Budget, Mein reaffirmed that it is designed to address the aspirations of all sections of society, including women, youth, and marginalized communities. Dignitaries also visited the Mihum Kumhung Museum, which showcases Adi history and artifacts, and explored stalls displaying handcrafted textiles, ornaments, and local delicacies.
