Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu among five BJP candidates to win uncontested in Assembly Elections
Five BJP candidates, including Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu, are set to secure an uncontested victory in the upcoming Assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh.
Till the last day of filing nominations, no candidate has filed their papers against Khandu and four other candidates.
However, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has yet to make a formal announcement of their victory in the elections.
Sources said the official announcement will be made only after the last date of withdrawal of nomination i.e. March 30.
March 27 was the last date for filing nomination papers and the scrutiny of documents will take place on March 28.
Khandu is set to win from the Mukto assembly constituency, as there was no opposition candidate in the constituency.
There was also the absence of opposition candidates in Papum Pare, suggesting a favourable landscape for the ruling BJP to dominate the electoral arena.
Ratu Techi from Sagalee emerges is another strong contender who is also set for an uncontested victory in the elections.
With no opposing nominations filed within the stipulated timeframe, the BJP is set for a clean sweep in various constituencies, including Mukto and Sagalee.
Furthermore, Hage Appa from Ziro in the Lower Subansiri district faces no contest, further solidifying the stronghold of the saffron party in the state.
Five candidates secured uncontested victories, including Jikke Tako from Tali, Nyato Dukom from Taliha, Ratu Techi from Sagalee, and Mutchu Mithi from Roing assembly constituencies.
Former chief minister and Congress leader Nabam Tuki, having served 30 years as an MLA from Sagalee, has opted to contest parliamentary elections this time, filing his nomination from Aalo.
