Arunachal Pradesh fast-tracks business reforms: Deputy CM orders immediate digitization & investment boost

In a major push to improve the business climate in Arunachal Pradesh, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein chaired a high-level review meeting on Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) reforms, calling for urgent action to streamline investment procedures and enhance governance efficiency.
During the meeting, Mein emphasized the full-scale implementation of the EoDB Act 2021, instructing all departments to digitize their services and formalize EoDB Rules. He also stressed timely service delivery, warning that any lapses would attract action under the Citizen Services Delivery Acts.
“A proactive approach is essential to eliminate procedural bottlenecks and foster a business-friendly environment,” Mein asserted, urging departments to ensure seamless digital integration and regulatory efficiency.
R.K. Sharma, Secretary (Planning & Investment), reiterated the state’s commitment to creating an investor-friendly ecosystem, highlighting that the EoDB Act 2021 mandates the integration of all departmental services into the EoDB portal for improved transparency and efficiency.
Providing insights into Arunachal Pradesh’s EoDB progress, Tabe Haidar, CEO (APIIP) and Joint Director (Investment), noted several achievements recognized as an “Aspirer” in India’s EoDB rankings, named the “Most Improved small state in governance” by India Today, first Northeastern state to integrate with the National Single Window System for business approvals and EoDB portal generating revenue, demonstrating successful digital transition.
The meeting resulted in major decisions aimed at accelerating business-friendly reforms mandatory integration of all departmental services into the EoDB portal, implementation of the Reduction of Compliance Burden (RCB) framework to simplify regulations, creation of a land bank to attract major investments, formulation of a comprehensive investment policy to encourage new businesses and gradual phasing out of manual processes after training and awareness campaigns for smooth digital governance.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from Pallab Dey, Director (Planning), reaffirming the state’s goal of positioning Arunachal Pradesh as a preferred destination for investors and businesses.
The session saw participation from top state officials, including the Advisor to the Deputy CM, Additional PCCF, Commissioners from various industries, health, trade, and transport departments, as well as members from the State Pollution Control Board.
With these reforms in motion, Arunachal Pradesh is set to emerge as a key investment destination in the Northeast, leveraging digital governance and strategic policy measures to attract businesses and drive economic growth.
