Arunachal’s first Space Lab in a Govt School inaugurated in Keyi Panyor
The first-ever Space Education Lab at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Yazali marked a significant educational advancement in Arunachal Pradesh. This initiative, created by ISRO’s Space Tutor in collaboration with VYOMIKA Space Academy, was championed by Deputy Commissioner of Keyi Panyor, Shweta Nagarkoti Mehta.
Mehta, along with prominent attendees like Education Minister PD Sona, Advisor to Home and Education Minister Mutchu Mithi, Yachuli MLA Toko Tatung, SP Angad Mehta, and Education Secretary Duly Kamduk, celebrated the occasion.
In her welcome address, DC Shweta Nagarkoti Mehta expressed her long-held passion for space exploration and the importance of fostering curiosity and wonder among young minds. She emphasized that this lab serves not just as a learning center but as a source of inspiration for students to dream beyond conventional boundaries.
In his address, Education Minister PD Sona highlighted this historic achievement for Arunachal Pradesh, applauding the district administration’s leadership in spearheading this educational initiative.
Sona noted that the lab serves as a pioneering model for the entire state, igniting an interest in space science and setting a benchmark for other regions.
Dr. Nilesh Desai, Director of SAC/ISRO, underlined India’s expanding influence in space exploration and the essential role that such educational programs play in accelerating national progress. Exposing students to space science at an early age, he suggested, would drive India’s advancement by nurturing a new generation of scientists and explorers.
MLA Toko Tatung emphasized the transformative role of space science in education, encouraging students and teachers to utilize the lab fully. He lauded Keyi Panyor district for making rapid strides in development, showcasing its commitment to progress despite its recent establishment.
On the same day, Education Minister PD Sona also inaugurated the new office of the Superintending Engineer of the Rural Works Department (RWD) in Yachuli, marking another step forward for the district’s infrastructure.
The day continued with a Chintan Shivir program held at GHSS Yazali, fostering dialogue and reflection on educational strategies. The event saw participation from key dignitaries, including Zilla Parishad Chairperson (ZPC), Zilla Parishad Members (ZPMs), community leaders, the Deputy State Project Director for RUSA, the District Deputy Director of School Education (DDSE), GHSS Yazali’s principal, teachers, students, and various district officers, all contributing to an inspiring day of educational and developmental advancements for the region.
