Assam BJP accelerates organizational overhaul: 433 mandal, 39 district committees to be formed by Feb 15
The Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has initiated a large-scale organizational restructuring, aiming to form 433 Mandal Committees by February 7 and full-fledged District Committees by February 14. The move is part of the party’s strategy to strengthen its grassroots presence across the state ahead of key electoral battles.
Newly elected Assam BJP president and MP Dilip Saikia has appointed 10 senior leaders as observers to oversee the formation of district committees, ensuring compliance with the party’s organizational framework.
BJP spokesperson Subhash Dutta mentioned that for the formation of strong district committees in Assam by February 14, minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass has been entrusted for the districts of Dhubri, Bongaigaon, Goalpara, Dakshin, Salmara Manakachar.
Similarly, minister Prashant Phukan for the districts of Tinisukia, Sivasagar, Charai Deu, Guwahati Metropolitan, minister Piyush Hazarika for the districts of Sonitpur, Biswanath, Udalguri, Tamulpur; minister Jayanta Malla Baruah for the districts of Barpeta, Kokrajhar, Baksa, Chirang; minister Jogen Mohan for the districts of Jorhat, Kaliabor, South Kamrup, North Kamrup and minister Kaushik Rai has been entrusted for the districts of Hailakandi, Sriboomi, Dima Hasao.
Former president Bhavesh Kalita has been entrusted for the districts of Morigaon, Nagaon, Hojai, Bilasipara; general secretary Pulok Gohain for the districts of Dibrugarh, Dhemaji, Dhekuwakhana, Majuli; Dipluranjan Sharma for the districts of Golaghat, East Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong, Cachar and former MP Pallav Lochan Das has been entrusted for the districts of Darrang, Nalbari, Bajali, Lakshmipur.
These leaders will monitor and guide the district committees’ formation, ensuring a structured and efficient expansion of the party’s network.
Prior to this, Dilip Saikia had already appointed district presidents, in-charges, co-in-charges, MPs, and MLAs to oversee the formation of Mandal Committees across Assam.
With 433 Mandals and 39 districts undergoing restructuring, the BJP aims to fortify its organizational strength at the grassroots level, ensuring effective outreach, mobilization, and electoral preparedness under Saikia’s leadership.
