Assam BJP launches aggressive grassroots campaign ahead of panchayat polls, targets sweep

The Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has kicked off an intensive, state-wide campaign ahead of the upcoming Panchayat elections, aiming for a comprehensive victory across all tiers of rural governance. The party has rolled out a high-energy outreach strategy to solidify its presence at the grassroots level.
According to an official party statement, the campaign will feature over a hundred public meetings, mega rallies, door-to-door interactions, and focused community engagements across every district and Zila Parishad constituency. The emphasis is on promoting the BJP’s development agenda and highlighting the importance of a strong, decentralized Panchayati Raj system.
Leading the campaign are key figures including Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, state BJP president and MP Dilip Saikia, Union Ministers Sarbananda Sonowal and Pabitra Margherita, along with a wide array of MPs, MLAs, and state-level leaders. Their collective presence is expected to boost momentum and visibility on the ground.
A major highlight of the campaign was a massive rally in Hailakandi on Sunday, drawing thousands of supporters and underlining the BJP’s expanding influence in the Barak Valley. Addressing the rally, BJP state president Dilip Saikia reaffirmed the party’s commitment to grassroots development.
“Strengthening the Panchayati Raj system is essential for real rural progress,” Saikia said. “The BJP’s track record in delivering on infrastructure, welfare schemes, and transparent governance gives us the confidence to aim for a clean sweep in the elections.”

Saikia pointed to the successful implementation of both Central and State government programs as the reason behind rising voter support in rural Assam. He emphasized that the BJP’s focus on last-mile delivery and accountability has resonated with people at the village level.
Also present at the Hailakandi rally were Minister Kaushik Rai, MP Parimal Suklabaidya, state vice-president Rajdeep Roy, state secretary Kanad Purkayastha, Cachar District BJP president Rupam Chanda, and MLAs Nihar Ranjan Das, Dipayan Chakraborty, and Mihir Kanti Shome, among others.
With a well-organized campaign, strong leadership, and extensive grassroots reach, the Assam BJP is positioning itself for a dominant performance in the Panchayat polls, aiming to consolidate its hold from the ground up.
