Assam: BJP-led NDA leading in 10 constituencies, Congress in 3
BJP-led NDA is leading in 10 constituencies –Dibrugarh, Kaziranga, Guwahati, Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, Darrang-Udalguri, Barpeta (AGP) and Kokrajkhar, while Congress-led United Opposition is leading in Jorhat, Nagaon and Dhubri seats as counting for the Lok Sabha elections underway till filing this report.
Till filing this report, the results of five seats have been announced-Guwahati, Diphu, Kaziranga, Sonitpur and Lakhimpur.
All five seats were captured by the NDA alliance.
In Kaziranga, BJP candidate Kamaakhya Prasad Tasa won the seat by defeating congress candidate Roselina Tirkey by a margin of 2,49,011 votes.
Tasa secured 8,96,362 (55.05%) while Tirky managed to get 6,47,351 (39.75%) votes.
In Lakhimpur, BJP candidate Pradhan Baruah defeated Congress candidate Uday Shankar Hazarika by a margin of 2,00,587 votes.
Baruaha received 6,59,307 (54.78%) votes while Hazarika managed to secure 4,58,720 (38.11%) votes.
Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal is leading in Dibrugarh by a margin of 2.78,327 votes against United Opposition candidate Lurinjyoti Gogoi.
According to the data received from the Election Commission of India (ECI) till 8 pm, Sonowal secured 6,92,273 (54.25%) votes while Gogoi managed to secure 4,13,946 (32.44%) and AAP candidate Manoj Dhanowar secured only 1,37,622 (10.79%) votes.
Congress candidate and sitting MP from Kaliabor Gaurav Gogoi is leading by 1,44,393 votes in Jorhat constituency against BJP candidate Topon Kumar Gogoi.
Gaurav secured 7,51,771 (54.04%) votes, while Topon managed to secure 6,07,378 (43.66%) votes.
In Dhubri, congress candidate Rakibul Hussain is leading by 9,71,029 votes against AIUDF candidate Mohammad Badaruddin Ajmal.
Rakibil received 14,23,440 (59.71%) votes while Ajmal managed to secure 4,48,913 (18.83%) votes in the election.
AGP candidate Zabed Islam managed to secure 4,30,232 (18.05%) votes.
In Darrang-Udalguri, BJP candidate Dilip Kumar Saikia retained the seat by defeating his nearest rival Congress candidate Madhav Rajbongshi by a margin of 3,21,162 votes.
Saikia secured 8,57,271 (47.79%) while Rajbongshi managed to get 5,36,109 (29.88%) votes.
BPF candidate Durga Das Boro managed to secure 3,08,395 (17.19%).
In Barpeta constituency, AGP candidate Phanibhushan Choudhury defeated his nearest rival Congress candidate Deep Bayan by a margin of 2,18,975 votes.
Phanibhushan secured 8,51,969 (50.97%) votes while his nearest rival Deep Bayan managed to secure 6,33,851 (37.92%) votes.
CPI-M candidate Manoranjan Taluakdar secured 94,755 (5.67%) votes.
In Diphu constituency, BJP candidate Amarsing Tisso won the seat by defeating APHLC candidate JI Kathar by a margin of 1,46,576 votes.
Yisso secured 3,32,440 (49.01%) votes, Kathar 1,85,864 (27.4%) votes and Engleng managed to secure 1,23,055 (18.14%) votes.
In the prestigious Guwahati constituency, BJP candidate Bijuli Kalita Medhi won the deat by defeating her rival Congress candidate Meera Barthaakur Goswami by a margin of 2,51,090.
Medhi secured 8,94,887 (55.95%) while Goswami managed to get 6,43,797 (40.25%) votes.
In Kokrakjar, UPPL candidate Joyanta Basumatary defeated his rival BPF candidate Kampa Borgoyari by a margin of 51,616 votes.
Joyanta secured 4,83,898 (39.4%) votes while Kaampa managed to secure 4,32,282 (35.2%) votes.
In Nagaon constituency, Congress candidate Prdyut Bordoloi defeated his rival BJP candidate Suresh Borah by a margin of 2,16,288 votes.
Bordoloi secured 7,85,188 (51.07%) votes while Boraah managed to secure 5,68,900 (37%) votes.
AIUDF candidate Aminul Islam managed to get only 1,36,783 (8.9%) votes.
In Sonitpur constituency, BJP candidate Ranjit Dutta won the seat by defeating his rival Congress candidate Premlal Ganju by a margin of 3,58,465 votes.
Dutta secured 7,71,018 (60.19%) votes while Ganju managed to secure 4,12,553 (32.2%) votes.
In Silchar, BJP’s Parimal suklabaidya is leading against rival Congress candidate Surya Kanta Sarka by by 2,61,119 votes.
Suklabaidya secured 6,47,572 (59.82%) votes while Sarkar managed to get 3,86,453 (35.7%) votes.
In Karimganj, BJP’s Kripanath Mallah is leading Congress candidate Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Choudhury by a margin of 11,663 votes.
Mallah secured 5,33,255 (47.24%) votes while Choudhury managed to get 5,21,592 (46.21%) votes.
