Assam CM reviews Rs 300 crore infrastructure overhaul at Assam Medical College

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Dibrugarh to assess the infrastructure development plans for Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH). The Rs 300 crore project aims to modernize residential quarters and improve facilities for faculty, staff, and students.
The plan includes replacing outdated accommodations with new housing for the Principal, Vice-Principal, faculty members, GNM staff, and students, along with quarters for third- and fourth-grade employees. Additionally, the project will feature a convention centre and other essential amenities.
During the review, the Chief Minister examined architectural blueprints and emphasized the need for modern infrastructure with provisions for future expansion. He directed the Public Works (Building) Department to work closely with AMCH authorities to ensure the project’s smooth execution. The initiative also involves demolishing old, dilapidated quarters to free up land for better utilization.
The meeting was attended by Minister Prasanta Phukan, Principal Secretary to the CM K.K. Dwivedi, Special Commissioner and Secretary of the Public Works (Building) Department Raj Chakrabarty, District Commissioner Bikram Kairi, AMCH Principal Sanjib Kakoti, Superintendent Dr. Dhrubajyoti Bhuyan, and other senior officials.
