Assam Governor inaugurates ‘Bharat Bodh’ Conclave, highlights India’s timeless intellectual and cultural legacy
Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya inaugurated the three-day Bharat Bodh Conclave, Guwahati Edition, at the Madhavdeva International Auditorium on Friday. Organized by leading educational institutions, including Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), the conclave aims to explore India’s civilizational heritage and its global contributions to knowledge and wisdom.
In his keynote address, Governor Acharya emphasized India’s profound intellectual traditions, stating, “India has been a land of knowledge, nurturing the world with wisdom. While other civilizations wandered in ignorance, India’s sages and scholars shaped humanity with enlightened values.” He praised the Bharat Bodh Conclave for fostering discussions on India’s civilization, culture, education, economy, history, and science, offering a holistic perspective on the nation’s intellectual and cultural depth.
The Governor urged attendees to view India through an indigenous lens, rejecting perspectives imposed by Western narratives. “For centuries, attempts have been made to disconnect India from its roots. However, the essence of Bharat remains unshaken, reflecting our resilience through cultural and political challenges,” he remarked.
Highlighting India’s remarkable contributions to global learning, Acharya cited ancient universities like Takshashila and Nalanda, which attracted scholars from across the world. He also spoke of India’s groundbreaking scientific discoveries, stating, “Many concepts pioneered in ancient India are now being rediscovered by modern science.”
The conclave features intellectual discussions, cultural performances, and exhibitions, offering participants an immersive experience in India’s rich traditions.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by dignitaries, including Prof. Rajnish Kumar Mishra, chairman of Ishan Bodh Trust, and Geetacharya Purandar Barua, chairman of Nishriyas.
