Assam Govt instituted judicial enquiry into Mukroh Firing Incident & suspended OC Jrikyndeng PS
Taking strong cognizance over the 22/11 Mukroh Firing incident, the Assam Government has immediately ordered the institution of Judicial Inquiry into the firing incident where 6 killed including five civilian and one unidentified forest guard from Assam in Mukroh village border West Jaintia Hills District and West Karbi Anglong District along the Assam Meghalaya Border.
The Judicial Inquiry will be headed under the Retired Judge of High Court to ascertain the facts, circumstances and the exact reasons of the incident.
Angered over the breakdown of law and order in the border areas, the Assam Government of Assam transferred Imdad Ali, Superintendent of Police, West Karbi Anglong and Kajal Nath, OC, Jirikyndeng Police Station and Shikari Enghi, Forest Protection Officer, Kheroni Forest Range has been placed under Suspension.
All personnel of the Police Force and Forest Force involved in the incident will be closed to
their respective Reserves
The Government of Assam has decided to provide Rs 5 lakh each to the next of kin of the 6 deceased persons, who died in the incident of firing.
Government of Assam has decided to hand over the investigation of the entire incident to a Central/ neutral investigation agency.
