Assam-Meghalaya police recover stolen motorcycles, five held
In a joint operation, Meghalaya Police and Assam Police successfully recovered stolen motorcycles and detained five persons involved in the case on Saturday.
Acting on credible intelligence, IC Dainadubi OP and Wageasi OGC staff intercepted a Pulsar motorcycle bearing registration number AS-18 K 3422 at Wageasi OGC, while another motorcycle with registration number AS-01 FF 1309 was recovered at Gairong Bazaar. The stolen motocycles were planned to be transported to Rongara for delivery to Bangladesh.
The detained persons have been identified as Rockystar M Sangma and Sanstar A Sangma, both residents of Bagmara, Dabigiri; Fozirul Haque from Sidabari, Goalpara; Rofiqul Ali, also known as Nabar Ali, aged 27, son of Anser Ali from Nayapara (Digpara) under Matia Police Station; and Rakibul Islam, aged 28, son of Late Jamoor Uddin from Nagarbera (Paharpara) under Nagarbera Police Station in Kamrup district.
All five have been handed over to the Officer-in-Charge of Matia Police Station in Goalpara district for further investigation and legal action.
The operation highlights the commitment of law enforcement agencies in tackling vehicle theft and cross-border smuggling. Police have urged the public to report any suspicious activities to help maintain security and prevent such crimes.
