Assam Raj Bhavan celebrates foundation day of Nagaland
As part of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” initiative, Raj Bhavan Assam in the presence of Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Minister Transport, Fisheries etc Keshab Mahanta, Minister Finance Ajanta Neog, Minister Power Nandita Garlosa celebrated the foundation day of Nagaland in the Kar Bhawan Auditorium here on Wednesday.
The celebrations aimed at promoting unity in diversity across the country.
Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya extended his heartfelt greetings and said that Nagaland, nestled in the picturesque northeastern region of India, is rich in natural beauty, diverse traditions and heritage.
The state, home to several indigenous tribes, is known for its lush hills, flowing rivers, and diverse flora and fauna. Because of its breathtaking landscapes and rich biodiversity, it is often called the “Switzerland of the East.”
As a key part of India’s “Seven Sisters,” Nagaland is not only significant for its natural resources but also for its cultural diversity. The people of Nagaland, with their deep-rooted traditions, embody courage, hard work, and a profound connection with nature. The state’s cultural heritage is preserved through rituals, festivals, and art forms that have been passed down through generations.
A major highlight of Nagaland’s cultural calendar is the renowned Hornbill Festival, a vibrant tourism event named after the sacred Hornbill bird. This festival is a symbol of the unity and pride of the Naga people and offers a unique opportunity to witness the rich cultural diversity of the state.
The Governor also spoke on the great freedom fighter of Nagaland Rani Gaidinliu, who played a significant role in the independence movement. Her courageous efforts in resisting British colonial rule are a lasting source of inspiration for all Indians.
It may be mentioned that the celebration of Nagaland’s Foundation Day aligns with the larger vision of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” — a historic initiative led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This initiative seeks to promote unity, harmony, and mutual respect among all states of India. Celebrating the foundation days of states like Nagaland strengthens national unity and fosters brotherhood among India’s diverse communities.
