Assam records 2nd highest voter turnout in 2nd phase of voting, Manipur tops
Assam recorded the second highest voter turnout with 81.17% polling during the polling for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections against 64.7 voters turnout recorded in 88 Lok Sabha constituencies of the country on Friday.
“Sincere thanks and kudos to the people of these districts for coming out in large numbers to exercise their franchise. Long live democracy,’ Assam chief electoral officer (CEO) Anurag Goel said in a message to the people of the state.
Despite being hit by ethnic clashes and law and order situation, Manipur recorded the highest polling with 81.90 per cent voting. The voter turnout in Tripura was 80.11%
The second phase of voting was conducted in five seats of Assam- Darrang-Udalguri, Nagaon, Diphu, Silchar and Karimganj, while in Manipur it was held in 13 assembly segments in eight hill districts.
The voter turnout in Bihar was 59.45%, Chhattisgarh 76.24%, Jammu and Kashmir 72.12%, Karnataka 69.56%, Kerala 71.27 per cent, Madhya Pradesh 58.59%, Maharashtra 62.71%, Rajasthan 65.03%, Uttar Pradesh 55.19% and West Bengal recorded 75.59% voter turnout during the second phase of polls,.
In Assam, the highest turnout was recorded in Nagaon Lok Sabha seat with 84.97% and the lowest turnout was recorded in Diphu with 75.74%.
Darrang-Udalguri recorded 82.01%, Silchar 79.05% and Karimganj recorded 80.48% voter turnout.
Under 4- Darrang-Udalguri constituency, 81.82% voter turnout was recorded in Rangia LAC segment, 83.81% in Kamalpur, 77.41% in Tamulpur, 78.59% in Goreswar, 78.39% in Bhergaon, 76.89% in Udalguri, 79.94 in Mazbat, 79.16% in Tangla, 81.51% in Sipajhar, 84.43 in Mangaldai and 93.00% voter turnout was recorded in Dalgaon LAC segment.
Under 6-Diphu (ST) constituency, 76.64% voter turnout was recorded in Bokajan LAC segment, 81.79% in Howraghat, 75.05% in Diphu, 76.81% in Rongkhang, 73.76% in Amri and 73.83% voter turnout was recorded in Haflong LAC segment.
Under 7-Karimganj Lok Sabha constituency, 81.79% turnout was recorded in Hailakandi LAC segment, 82.66% in Algapur-Katlicherra, 80.86% in Karimganj North, 78.07% in Karinganj South, 80.34% in Patharkandi and 79.30% voter turnout was recorded in Ram Krishna Nagar LAC segment.
Under the 8-Silchar parliamentary constituency, 77.06% turnout was recorded in Lakhipur LAC segment, 78.45% in Udharbond, 82.47% in Katigorah, 82.46% in Borkhola, 85.11% in Silchar, 78.87% in Sonai and 78.64% voter turnout was recorded in Dholai LAC segment.
Under 9-Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency, 84.91% voter turnout was recorded in Jagiroad LAC segment, 90.47% in Laharighat, 80.78% in Morigaon, 87.56% in Dhing, 87.95% in Rupahihat, 89.38% in Samaguri, 77.31% in Nagaon-Batadrava and 79.47% voter turnout was recorded in Raha LAC segment.
