Assam to introduce new laws for life term in ‘love jihad’ cases, to restrict Hindu-Muslim land transfer
Assam chief minister on Sunday announced that his government will soon introduce a new law to award life imprisonment to ‘love jihad’ offenders. Sarma also said the government will also introduce another legislation under which a Hindu can transfer his land to a Mislum with CM’s approval
Addressing the state executive meeting of the state BJP here, Sarma said: “We are bringing two laws to stop love jihad. If a Muslim wants to buy a Hindu’s property or a Hindu wants to buy a Muslim’s property, he will have to get CM’s permission.”
“We talked about ‘love jihad’ in the elections manifesto. We are bringing legislation to award life imprisonment to offenders,” Sarma said.
Sarma also said the government is introducing a new domicile policy under which only those born in the state will be entitled to government jobs.
The chief minister claimed that several thousand hectares of land were freed from the encroachment of a certain community of people. “During Congress, 30 percent of Assam Police jobs went offered to a certain community. But now you may see who is getting jobs in the government jobs. We are publishing a book on this,” he said and added that the government has taken some courageous decisions to reform the socio-economic sector of the state.
“Thousands of hectares of land has gone to the dominion of a certain community people. All will be brought back under the dominion of indigenous people. I told Congress not to target me at any time, I can also target them in a big way because they are corrupt,” he asserted.
Sarma also said that the government has prioritised the indigenous people in the “one lakh government jobs” provided as per a pre-poll promise, which will be clear once the complete list is published.
“The BJP government has also decided on the sale of land between Hindus and Muslims. Even as the government can’t prevent such a transaction, now one has to get the consent of the chief minister before going ahead with the land sale and purchase,” Sarma said.
The chief minister also said undivided Goalpara district was an integral part of Assam. For Koch Rajbongshi people it was a great glory. But the people of a certain community snatched away land from indigenous people. We are also bringing strict legislation that will prohibit the transfer of land from an Indigenous community to a certain community in the undivided Goalpara district.
“In the last three years, we were able to give rights to tea tribe people, indigenous people and the Gorkhas. It is a socio-economic revolution in the state. We are considering introducing a law for constituting micro tribal belts and blocks in small tribal villages out of protected belts and blocks,” he said.
“In Assam Congress got only 3 seats. A party that has been in power for 60 years has rejoiced in only three seats. I question which was is big 11 or 3. By winning three seats, they are now trying to show that they conquered the Everest. From this, it is proved that they never expected this result. A man who is sinking in the seat, if get a banana boat will think that he gets a big shelter. They got only three and that is their satisfaction. The Congress never thinks that they had five seats in the last term and now this year they lost two seats,” he said.
He said Union home minister Amit Shah will introduce legislation in Lok Sabha for the nationalization of Wakf property in the country. The BJP is a strong party at the blessing of the people.
He claimed that the BJP government has crossed three significant marks. Charaideo Moidam got recognition of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From Jawaharlal Nehru to Dr Manmohan Singh, they have enough opportunity to be recognized it as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. But they missed it. On the occasion of the 400th birth anniversary, Lachit Barphukan got national recognition. Assam’s Bihu also got Guinness World Records. Assam is creating a new history in the socio-economic sector.
