Assam wins 3 golds in National Para-Swimming Championships
Assam won nine medals, including three golds in the National Para Swimming Championship held in Panjit, Goa. The Assam team, led by international swimming coach and Assam Paralympic Association secretary Rajiv Dey, won three gold, four silver and two bronze medals.
Krishna Das of Assam won two gold medals in the junior boys’ 100m best stroke and the 200m freestyle category. Surya Saikia won the third gold medal for Assam. He won the gold medal in the 50m best stroke and silver in the 50m freestyle.
Yesmin Khatun of Assam won three silver medals in the tournament which started on Sunday. In the junior girls’ category, Yesmin won silver medal in the 100m best stroke and freestyle and third silver medal in the 50m best stroke category. Assam’s Sajida Begum won bronze in the senior women’s 100m best stroke and Preeti Das won bronze in the 50m best stroke.
Assam Paralympic Association chief sponsor Riniki Bhuyan Sarma congratulates all para-swimmers of Assam for this glorious achievement. The tournament was attended by a team of eight from Assam.The Assam Paralympic Association selected the team for the national competition based on their performance at the 4th All Assam Paralympic Championships held in Guwahati.
