Assam’s 4 Lok Saabha seats surpass national record with 85.45% voter turnout in 3rd phase

Assam surpassed all India record with the highest voter turnout with 85.45% voting in four Lok  Sabha seats during the third phase, which was conducted on Tuesday.

The third phase of voting was conducted in Guwahati, Dhubri, barpeta and Kokraajhar parliamentary constituencies along with 94 constituencies of 12 states of the country.

The overall turnout in the three phases of the poll was 81.71 per cent, officials of the Election Commission (EC) said here on Wednesday. 

The overall voter turnout in the third phase in the country was 65.19 per cent.

The state recorded 81.60 per cent polling in the first phase and 81.17 per cent voting in the second phase of the election held on April 19 and 26 respectively.

Bihar recorded 58.58% voting, Chattisgarh 71.98%, Dadra &Nagar Haveli and Daman Diu 69.87%, Goa 75.20%, Gujarat 59.51%, Karnataka 71.73%, Madhya Pradesh 66.71%, Maharashtra 61.44% and Uttar Pradesh recorded 57.55% voting in the third phase.

Assam was followed by West Bengal 77.53% and Goa 75.20% voting.

The lowest turnout was recorded by Ittar Pradesh with 57.55% per cent voting.

According to the final figure provided by the CEO’s office here, Dhubri recorded the highest 92.08% voter turnout, followed by Barpeta with 85.24%.

Kokrajhar recorded 83.55% turnout while Guwahati recorded the lowest 78.39% voter turnout in the third phase.

Under Dhubri parliamentary constituency, 90.69% voting was recorded in Golokganj LAC segment, 94.03% in Gauripur, 92.93% in Dhubri, 94.10% in Birsing-Jarua, 89.22% in Bilasipara, 89.32% in Mankachar, 93.78% in Jaleswar, 91.86% in Goalpara East, 92.49% in Srijangram, 89.32% in Mandia, 91.31% voter turnout was recorded in Chenga LAC segment.

Under Barpeta LS seat, 87.04% polling was recorded in Abhayapuri LAC segment, 88.56% in Bongaigaon, 80% in Bhawanipur-Sarbhog, 84.60% in Barpeta, 87.60% in Pakabetbari, 80% in Bajali, 83.12% in Hajo-Sualkuchi, 86.44% in Barkhetri, 74.04% in Nalbari and 780.46% voting was recorded in Tihu LAC segment.

Under Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency, 81.36% voting was recorded in Gossaingaon LAC segment, 83.22% in Dotoma, 81.27% in Kokrahar, 85.96% in  Baokhungri, 89.04% in Parbatjhora, 83.79% in Sidli-Chirang, 86.78% in Bijni, 81.66% in Manas and 78.67% voter turnout was recorded in Baksa LAC segment.

Under Guwahati Lok Sabha constituency, 87.04% voting was recorded in Goalpara West LAC segment, 85.99% in Dudhnoi, 89.89% in Chamaria, 80.70% in Boko-Chaygaon, 80.09% in Palashbari, 69.79% in Dispur, 76.94% in Dimoria, 67.93% in New Guwahati, 71.24% in Guwahati Central and 76.50% voting was recorded in Jalukbari.
