Assam’s Special DGP to take over as Meghalaya’s DGP

The Governor of Meghalaya on Monday appointed Dr. Lajja Ram Bishnoi, IPS(RR 1991), Special Director General of Police (Training & Armed Police), Assam, Guwahati as the new Director General of Police (Head of Police Force), Meghalaya, Shillong.

In a notification No. HPL. 252/2012/Pt/153 Dated 16 May, 2022, from amongst the empanelled list of IPS Officers duly recommended by the Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) in its meeting held on 9th February, 2022 Dr. Lajja Ram Bishnoi, IPS(RR 1991) was selected for the presitigious post in the Apex Scale of Pay (Level 17) in the Pay Matrix with effect from the date of taking over charge and until further orders.

The post of DGP was lying vacant after DGP R. Chandranathan retired in November last year.

Notably, Meghalaya Government December 23, last year promoted the first Khasi lady IPS officer and Additional Director General of Police (SB) Idashisha Nongrang to the rank of Special Director General of Police, of Meghalaya Police.

In a notification issued, Idashisha Nongrang, IPS(RR:1992), Additional Director General of Police(SB), Meghalaya, Shillong is promoted to officiate in the Above Super Time Scale in the rank of Director General in the Level 16(HAG+) of the Pay Matrix with effect from 01.01.2022
