Assembly session to commence from Sept 6

SHILLONG: The Autumn Session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will commence from September 6, Commissioner & Secretary Andrew Simons said on Wednesday. 

He informed that the Business Advisory Committee will meet on August 23, to finalize the agenda and number of days for the Session. The meeting will be chaired by the Assembly deputy speaker Timothy D Shira. 

It may be mentioned here that the top post in the Assembly has fallen vacant after the death of former Speaker Dr Donkupar Roy on July 28.

Meanwhile, the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) is yet to meet to decide on the matter. Sources however informed that the meeting is likely to take place very soon.
