Auction of 19,000 MT coal cancelled
Within two days after issuing the notification for auction of 19,000 metric tonnes of coal for supply to cement plants in East Jaintia Hills District, the First Class Magistrate of East Jaintia Hills District has cancelled the auction.
A notification issued by the First Class Magistrate, East Jaintia Hills on 18 May it said “This is for general information of all concerned that in Pursuance of the Mining & Geology Department Order No.MG.94/2011/121 dated 2nd September 2019 and the Legal Advice regarding the same dated 15.05.2020 by the Advocate general, the Auction Notice No. EJHD/JUDL.40/2019-20/50 dated Khliehriat the 16th May 2020 is hereby cancelled.”

Earlier in the notification issued, the First Class magistrate has decided to auction 19,000 metric tonnes which was also confiscated by the court, will be disposed of by way of auction for supply to cement plants in East Jaintia Hills District.

The 19000 MT of coal was seized at various check points along the national highway during the period between July 2019 to January 2020 at the ICDS land near Deputy Commissioner’s office, Umtyra Weighbridge and Ratacherra Weighbridge.
