Ayushman Bharat Health Mela held at Saipung C&RD Block
As part of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”, the office of the District Medical and Health Officer, East Jaintia Hills District organised Block Level Health Mela at Saipung PHC under Saipung C&RD Block on Wednesday.
A total of 630 beneficiaries underwent checkups and treatment during the day-long programme, 203 Digital/ Unique Health ID was created, Ayushman cards were issued to 15 beneficiaries and 10 beneficiaries were administered with the Covid-19 vaccine. A group discussion and awareness was also given to school students on healthy diet and nutrition, teenage pregnancy, substance abuse, peer pressure and the importance of education.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest, Arbor Hima Darnei, MDC Saipung Constituency informed the gathering that the Ayushman Bharat Block Level Health Mela was organised under the direction of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India with the objective to ensure that every citizen has access to quality health care.
District Medical and Health Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, Dr. Dominic Shylla, in his speech said that the health mela will be beneficial in providing quality free health care services along with medicines, counselling and diagnostic services to the people, while also stating the mela will also help in informing the public about the various programmes, schemes and services that are being carried out at the block level. He appealed to the people at the gathering to take part and avail the various services provided at the event.
The services that were provided during the day-long health mela includes free counselling on reproductive, family planning, child health and mental health, screening of Eye, ENT and Dental consultation, free medical check-up and medicines, NCD related on Yoga, meditation and lifestyle counselling, Adolescent Health Counselling, tobacco cessation, cancer prevention awareness, screening for communicable diseases and non- communicable disease, Blood Test, Routine immunization, Covid Vaccination, Mass Weighting, Digital health ID creation- ABDM and Ayushman Bharat card issuance.
Stalls were set up for registration of beneficiaries, NCD and TB Screening, Covid Vaccination, Wellness Clinical Care, laboratory, Eye Screening by Nethralaya, drug dispensing counter, MHIS & PM-JAY, PMMVY, IEC stall and exhibition of food grains, vegetables and fruits by the Office Food Safety Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat. The mela was also participated by the Punjab National Bank for opening bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
