Bangladeshi man involved in sneaking of several Bangladeshi intruders to India arrested in Meghalaya
The Meghalaya Police on Wednesday arrested one Bangladeshi involved in the sneaking of Bangladeshi into Indian Territory and categorized as one of the most wanted traffickers in East Jaintia Hills District.
According to police, acting on a tipoff that some Bangladeshi nationals were trying to illegally sneak into the Indian Territory through the jungle and unfenced Indo-Bangla border area, a joint operation was launched by police team from Umkiang PPP and Ratacherra Infil. CP, led by SI. S. Buam and SI. E. Pohchen respectively. Police personnel were placed at strategic locations i.e. at Pyrtakuna and Kuliang area for nabbing the Bangladeshi intruders.
During the operation, some unidentified suspects were spotted moving through the jungle inside Indian Territory at Kuliang area, one of them, who must have been acquainted with the jungle routes/area was leading. Later, he was seen coming out on the NH-06 at Kuliang area and trying to arrange a vehicle in order to ferry his people who were still hiding inside the jungle.
The police team on seeing his suspicious activities rushed to spot. Subsequently, on seeing the police, he tried to flee towards the jungle. The police team went after him and accordingly, he was apprehended, from his possession a mobile phone along with one (1) machete was recovered. Later, he was brought to Umkiang PPP for taking necessary action.
On preliminary enquiry, the arrested person disclosed his name Misba Uddin from Bangladesh and confessed that he was involved in several cases of trafficking registered in the district. Misba Uddin had been helping Bangladeshi nationals in crossing over into Indian Territory. He is one of the most wanted traffickers and he was placed under arrest.
