Behdienkhlam Festival concludes in Aitnar, Jowai with call to review Meghalaya State Reservation Policy
The four day long Behdienkhlam Festival ended in Aitnar, Jowai on Sunday with a clarion call from the faithful of Ki Khon Ka Niamtre Iawmusiang, Jowai for reviewing the Meghalaya State Reservation Policy (MSRP).
Through a specially crafted structure or rot as traditionally known, the faithful of Ki Khon ka Niamtre Iawmusiang, Jowai made the call for rectifying the anomalies of Roster System or Revamp the Reservation Policy.
On its arrival in Aitnar the sacred place for final ritual of the Behdienkhlam, the rot of Ki Khon Niamtre Iawmusiang caught the attention of several people who attended the festival.
The issue of Roster System and Reservation Policy is burning one in Meghalaya after the issue was flared up by the Voice of People Party (VPP).
Besides the rot of Iawmusiang, Jowai there were from Iongpiah, Dulong, Panaliar, Loomkyrwiang, Chilliangraij, Loomiongkjam, Tpep-pale, Iawmusiang all localities under Jowai Town besides Ummulong, Shillong Seinraij, Seng Khasi Kmie of rots with the message against drug menace afflicting the society.
The festival was attended by the Governor of Meghalaya, Phagu Chauhan, Chief Justice of High Court of Meghalaya Sanjib Banerjee, Cabinet Minister Kyrmen Shylla, Mawkhar MLA Adelbert Nongrum amongst other dignitaries.
