Being called a government of inquiries is a good thing, says Meghalaya CM

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday said reports of the inquiries into various allegations have found that the allegations were merely allegations.

“Allegations are made time and again. These inquiries have brought out that these allegations were merely allegations,” Sangma told reporters.

Stating that his government has never shied away from being transparent, the chief minister referred to the statement of Congress chief Vincent Pala that the MDA government is known as the government of inquiries as a “good thing”.

“I think it is a good thing as whenever there is a concern we don’t shy away from it. We have allowed the inquiries to take place and inquiry reports have all been placed. We never even allow them to slow down…Therefore, it is a clear example of how this government wants to be transparent,” he said.

“Allegations will always be there and inquiry is the best way to ensure that a free fair inquiry takes place and the facts come out and in all the cases, the inquiries have come out and we have placed the facts in front of the people and I think there is nothing to hide,” he further asserted.

According to him, had the government not gone for inquiries and not done these independent inquiries then people would say they are hiding something.
