Bethany Hospital rubbishes indefinite closure rumours
Authority of the Bethany Hospital has assured that the hospital will soon resume operation in Shillong and Nongpoh.
This came after rumours were being spread in social media that the hospital is closed indefinitely and that its doctors and staff are searching for jobs elsewhere.
In a statement issued here, Bethany hospital nodal officer and spokesperson, Dr Kyntiewlang Sanmiet has termed the allegations as ‘misleading’.
“There have been messages circulating on social media that five doctors of Bethany Hospital, Shillong are hospitalized and that the hospital is closed indefinitely and its doctors and staff are searching for jobs elsewhere.
This circulated information is misleading and incorrect,” he said.
Dr Sanmiet also informed that only one doctor from the hospital is currently hospitalised in one of the private hospitals in the city and has tested negative for COVID-19 thrice already.
“The last test was done on Saturday,” he added.
The hospital authority also assured all its patrons and well-wishers that Bethany Hospital, Shillong and Bethany Hospital Outreach, Nongpoh will resume operations at the earliest.
“Currently, we await government’s instructions regarding disinfection and sanitisation of the hospitals in order to safeguard public and staff safety on commencement of ourservices,” Dr Sanmiet said adding “Bethany Hospital looks forward to welcome one and all with care, compassion and commitment.”
The hospital spokesman further requested all concerned to extend their cooperation by not sharing unverified information.
