BJP accuses Gaurav Gogoi of misinformation, demands clarification on Advantage Assam controversy

The BJP has strongly criticized Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, accusing him of misleading the public and attempting to derail the Advantage Assam 2.0 investment summit. BJP leaders in Assam have called on Gogoi to clarify his stance on alleged sedition charges and stop spreading what they describe as false narratives against the state’s economic progress.
A video released by Congress, featuring Gogoi, questions the effectiveness of investment summits, suggesting that they generate hype without substantial development on the ground. The controversy escalated when the video, at the 8-second mark, displayed an incorrect map of India, omitting Gilgit, Baltistan, and parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Assam BJP spokesperson Subhash Dutta refuted Gogoi’s claims, emphasizing that the Rs 5 lakh crore worth of investment agreements signed at the summit reflect Assam’s growing economic potential. He noted that similar summits are being organized across India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to position the country among the world’s top three economies by 2030.
“The NDA government, led by Prime Minister Modi, has implemented clear strategies to attract investments. Unlike Congress, which failed to develop Assam’s economy during its rule, the current administration is actively working toward economic transformation under Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma,” Dutta asserted.
In another statement, Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka intensified the criticism, questioning Gogoi’s silence on national security concerns. He referenced reports linking Gogoi and his wife, Elizabeth, to individuals with alleged anti-India affiliations. Deka pointed out that despite Elizabeth’s multiple visits to Pakistan and her alleged connections with figures like Ali Taukir, Gogoi has yet to provide any clarification.
“Why is Gaurav Gogoi not addressing these concerns? His continued silence raises serious doubts,” Deka remarked.
Deka also condemned the use of a distorted Indian map in Gogoi’s video. “Does he not recognize Kashmir as part of India? Is there an external influence behind this? The people of Assam deserve answers,” he said.
The BJP has challenged Gogoi to respond to these allegations and urged him to refrain from what they call “misleading propaganda.” As the controversy surrounding Advantage Assam 2.0 deepens, the political atmosphere in the state remains tense, with expectations mounting for Gogoi’s response.
