BJP demands scrutiny over funds sanctioned to MLAs for COVID-19 crisis
The BJP in the state on Wednesday demanded scrutiny of the Rs 25 lakh sanctioned to each of 60 MLAs for helping the needy people during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“(We) demand that all the 60 MLAs in the state submit their detail accounts to the public for scrutiny with regards to the 25 lakhs of rupees as had been sanctioned to each one of them from the MLA scheme for helping the needy people in their respective constituency during the COVID-19 pandemic,” BJP state president Ernest Mawrie said in a statement.
He also urged the state government to ensure that the free food grains which is meant for the poorest people reaches them.
Mawrie informed that the party had earlier received complaint from different parts of the state especially Garo Hills alleging that there were many anomalies in the distribution of PMGKAY.
According to him, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced PMGKAY for the poorest it should reach without any political biasness or anomalies.
Meanwhile, the BJP state president also lauded the Prime Minister’s announcement to distribute free food grains to 80 crore Indians among whom there exists the poorest, economically weak and ones facing hardship during these challenging times.
He said Modi had earlier announced that free food grains would now be extended until November ‘2020 to give relief for an extended period as the country fights COVID -19 crisis.
He also welcomes the Modi government’s decision to help the farmers who have got a total of Rs 18,000 crore directly in their bank accounts, for migrants too, the PM Gareeb Kalyan Rozgar Yojana has been launched.
About 80 crore people have also got 5 kg ration for free and 1 kg of dal (cereal) per month also free of cost.
The State BJP further appreciates the Central Government’s stand on introducing one Nation One Ration Card, the party feels by introducing this policy the migrant labours will be directly benefited as now one Ration Card can be used in any part of the country.
