BJP leader Kamal Dey found dead in Guwahati; murder suspected

Kamal Dey, president of the Jalukbari Mandal Committee of BJP, was found dead near his residence in Shankar Nagar, Maligaon, early Monday morning. His mysterious death has sparked speculation, with the public suspecting foul play.

Sources revealed that Dey left his home around 2:30 am to drop a friend off at their house. The incident occurred on his return, around 2:47 am. Initially, there were suspicions that he had been attacked by miscreants, but police investigations point to a tragic accident.

Guwahati Police Commissioner Partha Sarathi Mahanta stated, “CCTV footage shows that Dey fell from his Scooty after hitting a speed breaker. He was rushed to Swagat Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.”

Amid public uproar and speculation about the circumstances of his death, the police have involved the CID for a comprehensive investigation. “We will have a clearer picture once the postmortem report is available,” Mahanta added.

The incident has raised questions about road safety and the lack of visibility at night, as well as concerns about ensuring a thorough investigation to rule out any foul play.
