BJP leader urges govt to install CCTVs to stop crime against non-tribal
Senior BJP leader Pawan Sharma on Sunday said he would soon meet cabinet minister Sanbor Shullai urging him to take up with the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Home minister Lahkmen Rymbui the issue of repeated crimes by miscreants on non-tribal community
Sharma said a delegation of BJP leaders will also meet Shullai to discuss safety issue as recently the demolition of Goddess Kali idol also took place at same constituency (West Shillong) by miscreants.
“Such repeated crimes in the particular constituency clearly reflect there is political conspiracy behind such repeated attack,” he said while adding that such incident should be condemned by everyone as such incident of extreme intolerance will only spread hatred.
Terming the act as a handiwork of anti-social elements, the BJP leader said that tighter security should be given in the area as it is frequented by anti-social elements and also by drug addicts and alcoholics.
He said the stakeholders including the police personnels should be actively involved in curbing such menace and advocated that CCTV should be installed in the area.
The BJP leader further informed that he will request the state government to install CCTV in such vulnerable areas.
“Shopkeepers including commercial residential apartment in the city should install CCTV in their respective compounds as this is the only way to curb such menace. Govt should impose compulsory CCTV in commercial areas including shops and also in commercial apartment,” he said while asserted that financial aid should be provided or subsidized the CCTV so that such crimes can be reduced in the city.
