BJP leaders want Mawrie’s removal as state president: CM
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said almost half of the BJP leaders in Meghalaya are all in favour of ousting Ernest Mawrie as the state president of the party.
“I have spoken to both the MLAs (AL Hek and Sanbor Shullai) of the BJP and both of them have distant themselves from the comments he (Mawrie) has made. Both the MLAs have told me that they are in favor of Ernest Mawrie being removed as president of the state BJP,” Sangma told reporters on Friday.
He further claimed, “I have spoken to half of the BJP leaders in the Meghalaya unit they all are in favour of ousting Ernest Mawrie. I have spoken to national leaders and they are also very upset with the way the president of the BJP has been handling the situation.”
Stating that the rest is up to the BJP to decide on the matter, the chief minister said, “I am telling you the internal feelings of the party leaders and more importantly the legislature of the BJP who are completely against the president of the BJP.”
