BJP MDC alleges most JJM works done are incomplete and stands as a scam in many villages in Garo Hills
BJP MDC from Tura Bernard N Marak has requested the PHE minister Marcuise N Marak to look into the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Garo Hills including the villages, which falls under the minister’s constituency.
In a letter to Marcuise, Bernard said that the villagers in Garo Hills are facing immense difficulty in availing proper drinkable water that is a basic need to the villagers.
He said that JJM was supposed to provide drinkable running water to every household but most of the JJM works done are incomplete and stands as a scam in many villages as Works done by the contractors are sub – standard with non – functional tanks and pipelines.
“This is a scam made out of the crores of rupees sanctioned by the centre as a scheme with a mission to provide drinkable water to every house hold,” he alleged.
Bernard informed that RTI has been submitted in every district through the Deputy Commissioners while urging the minister to issue instruction to the PHE department to provide detailed information is prayed so that there is transparency and no manipulation.
He said that the villagers will also be submitting their complaints to the SDOs / Executive Engineers regarding the anomalies with a copy of which will be sent to you for your initiative.
Further, the MDC alleged that in most villages, the villagers were also forced to sign the completion report of the works done without the work being actually completed and the household connections not covering every family.
“Families did not receive the drinkable running water which has turned out to be a scam rather than a scheme. Hence, it can be concluded that there was a deliberate attempt to defeat the noble vision of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his sincere initiative to provide drinkable running water to every household,” he added.
