BJP seek CM’s clarification on Cong supporting MDA govt
BJP state president Ernest Mawrie on Wednesday said the party has sought clarification from the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on the recent joining of the five Congress legislators without discussing it with the BJP as a coalition partner.
Speaking to reporters, Mawrie said that the letter was submitted to Sangma on Tuesday based on the decision taken at the core committee meeting of the party held recently in the presence of Meghalaya in-charge Dr Chuba Ao and party MLAs – AL Hek and Sanbor Shullai.
“I have already handed over the letter yesterday and the CM has conveyed that after returning back from Delhi he will give the reply to that letter,” he said.
Mawrie said that the party in the letter has asked for clarification that the CM has not discussed with the BJP as the partner in the MDA government on the joining of the Congress MLAs.
The BJP had earlier downplayed the joining of the Congress legislators as accepting its ideology.
When asked, Mawrie said that he has nothing to say about the Congress taking action by suspending the five legislators as it is their party matters.
If the BJP would approach the five MLAs, he however said there is no move as such but “we welcome anybody to join us.”
