BJP seeks people support to form Govt in Meghalaya
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday appealed to the citizens of the state to support the party in 2023.
“We request the people of the state this time to give us a chance as we are very serious about forming the government with good governance and to focus on development,” BJP state president Ernest Mawrie told reporters.
He said the BJP had recently won in four out of five states with a thumping majority adding “why have people in those states supported the BJP, it is because the agenda of the party is development.”
Stating that the party is gearing up for the upcoming 2023 polls, Mawrie said the meeting of the state office bearers held yesterday had decided to form the election manifesto committee, where both the MLAs of the party will be part of the committee.
“We will have two parts – one for local issues and the other one for general issues concerning the state,” he said.
He said the party has discussed a lot and is focusing on the schemes sanctioned by the NDA government which include the JJM, Saubhagya and PMGSY for providing water connection, electrification and construction of roads respectively.
“With regards to PMGSY before it was not implemented properly as hardly 1-2 kms was taken up but the NDA government under the leadership of Prime Minister, has given a target to all the states including Meghalaya to complete construction of at least 17 km per day,” he added.
Commenting on the tremendous development taking place in neighbouring Assam with medical college, engineering college being set up in each district of the state, Mawrie said, “We will also focus on that, if the people of our state vote and support us to form the government.”
