BJP slams Cong for opposing Assam’s semiconductor plant, calls it anti-development
Assam Pradesh BJP has accused the Congress party of opposing Assam’s semiconductor industry to be set up in Jagiroad, calling it a deliberate attempt to stall the state’s industrial progress.
Assam Pradesh BJP spokesperson Juri Sarma Bordoloi strongly condemned recent remarks by Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Kumar Borah, who criticized the semiconductor industry project.
She alleged that Congress has historically been against industrialization, failing to set up industries during its tenure while allowing existing industries to decline.
Bordoloi reiterated that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government has taken significant steps to promote industrialization, ensuring infrastructure development to facilitate business growth. She highlighted that “Advantage Assam 2.0”, scheduled for February 25-26, will attract domestic and foreign investors, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi attending the event.
Bordoloi alleged that Congress is rattled by the state’s rapid industrialization and is resorting to baseless opposition. “Congress is disoriented by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s decisive push for Assam’s industrial progress. Instead of supporting development, they are actively opposing projects like the semiconductor industry,” she further said.
She urged the Congress leadership to abandon its “anti-Assam” mentality and adopt a more constructive approach toward the state’s economic growth.
