BJP targets to enroll 2 lakh members in Meghalaya
SHILLONG: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Meghalaya has expressed confidence that it would be able to achieve target of enrolling two lakh members before August 11.
Addressing media persons here on Tuesday, BJP state vice president Earnest Mawrie said the enrollment drive for primary membership, which was launched by party leader Ajay Jamwal, in the state will end on August 11.
“The main objective of the enrolment drive is to strengthen the base of the party in Meghalaya. We believe that we will be able to achieve the target of enrolling two lakh members,” he said while informing that the procedure of enrolment is just by giving a miss call to 89808080.
Mawrie said this will be followed by the enrolment for active member drive which will start from August 12 to August 31.
“The active members are eligible to become office bearers of the state executive committee and district committees,” he said.
Asked, the state vice president said only from the online enrollment drive, people who have enrolled have crossed over 20,000 while with regards to the offline, the party has printed more than a lakh application forms.
He said over 30,000 people have taken the application forms for enrolling as members of the party, while 40,000 in East Khasi Hills including Shillong and only 4,000 in Jaintia Hills.
