BJP to contest from Tura and Shillong on LS polls
SHILLONG: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls from the two parliament seats in Meghalaya.
“We have unanimously decided to contest from both the Tura and Shillong seat,” BJP leader and cabinet minister AL Hek told reporters after a meeting chaired by party’s general secretary in-charge North East Ajay Jamuwal here on Tuesday.
Hek informed that the state election committee will soon be constituted for inviting applications from aspiring candidates.
Asked, he said that there are around 4-5 candidates who have approached the party for tickets but the decision on the matter will be taken by the state election committee.
