BJP to continue protest against corruption: Mawrie
BJP state president Ernest Mawrie on Thursday said that he would continue to protest against corruption in the state.
Mawrie was reacting to the allegation made by the leaders of the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) against him for attacking the MDA government.
“I am not attacking them (NPP) but I have only highlighted issues which you all know better what is going on,” Mawrie told reporters.
“It is my duty as state president of the party (to highlight such issues). Even from the central leaders, they told me you have to carry on if there are corruption issues,” he said.
Asked, the state president said, “If there is any issue that is hampering the welfare of the state, definitely will raise the issue. If there are any corruption issues that are affecting the state, as a party will continue to protest against them.”
According to him, the central leaders in Delhi had given him clear cut instruction on what needs to be done.
On Meghalaya Incharge, Dr Chuba Ao’s claim that there has been no complaint against implementation of central schemes in the state, Mawrie however said, “Chuba Ao knows little as he is not from here but we as people of the state we know there are many loopholes in the implementation of the central schemes. We have been informed about this and they will issue instructions.”
Asked if he would continue to push for a CBI inquiry into the ADC scam, Mawrei said, “Last time when I met the authority, (they say) some kind of inspection will come from the Centre. the Centre will depute a team for inspection. Let them come and they will ask for documents and proof as we have already submitted the RTI received from the concerned department and GHADC.”
