BJP to finalise candidate for Gambegre bye-poll after Oct 21
BJP leader and cabinet minister AL Hek on Thursday informed that the party will soon announce its official candidate for the upcoming Gambegre bye-poll after a meeting with the central leadership on October 21.
Speaking to reporters, Hek said that the party is going to fight the Gambegre bye-poll and there are always two – three aspirants for the party ticket.
“Once they apply, the party will make the best decision on whom to give the ticket. Also, we are going for a meeting in Delhi on October 21. We also have had virtual discussions with the leaders to set up the candidates for the bye-election,” he added.
Hek said the party will only finalise the candidate after the meeting with the central leadership in Delhi.
“I fully endorse what you are saying that BJP announced its candidates very late. This time they have called us to discuss, so we will discuss and after that only, we will finalise the candidate for the Gambegre bye election,” he added.
Asked, the BJP leader said, “See the mantra is the NDA government led by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. There are so many schemes given for the poorest of the poor, for the poor people. There are so many developments done by the central government. That is our mantra. But it depends on the choice of the people.”
On the allegations made by the BJP from Garo Hills against the NPP, Hek however said, “This is the MDA government. We are also part of the MDA government. The people have their own opinion. Whether you accept their opinion or not is upto the individual but it is the opinion of the people.”
