BJP’s Youth Wing demands action against KSU President
In a latest charge against the Khasi Students Union (KSU), the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha Cachar District on Friday demanded action KSU President Lambokstar Marngar for putting up banners across Shillong city against the Bengali community.
In a complaint lodged with the Officer in Charge Silchar Sadar Police Station, Cachar District BJYM President Amitesh Chakraborty informed that on Wednesday there were banners put-up at all the major squares of Police Bazar in Shillong suggesting that all Bengalis of Meghalaya are Bangladeshis and they need to leave Meghalaya.
This sort of banners have created lot of panic amongst the Non-Khasi people at Meghalaya, specifically the Bengal speaking people of Meghalaya. This sort of Incident was not new to Meghalaya, it has been happening since 1979 and this hatred is being spread by the Khasi students union, he alleged.
The recent communal disharmony and communally flared statement given by KSU tried to create disharmony in the country not specifically in Meghalaya but also in the entire country, Chakraborty said that Meghalaya has been a part of Assam till 1971 and prior to that Assam was a part of Bengal since ages. It is important to mention here that a lot of Bengali speaking and also Nepali, Hindi speaking population are residing in the entire North East region since ages, since this has been a part of Bengal Province of British India.
The BJYM demanded such sort of activity by Marngar should be stopped immediately and strict action should be taken with immediate effect as per Laws of our country. “So, that this sort of event which has been happening since 1979 almost on a yearly basis mostly during the season of Durga Puja, Diwali lasting till X-mas should not happen in future,” he added.
When contacted BJP Secretary in the state, Lakhon Biam said they are yet to discuss this issue.
