Bodies of two siblings recovered from Nongrah forest, accused father absconding
The bodies of two minors have been recovered at Wahktieh forest in Nongrah on Tuesday morning.
The siblings were allegedly murdered by their father, who is still absconding.
The accused has been identified as Jefferson Jana.
The headman of Nongrah Nonglum informed that Jana used to take out his two children of the age of 4 and 2 years but when they did not return home on Monday evening, the mother immediately filed an FIR with the Rynjah police station at 11 pm.
Taking swift action, the police along with members of the dorbar shnong had organized a search operation but they could not find the two children.
He however said that it was around 8.30 am today that he had received a call from people informing about two bodies lying inside the forest.
A case has been registered and police are conducting a manhunt to nab the accused.
When asked about the details and action taken on the case, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Sylvester Nongtnger responded, “We will let you know”.
