Body of woman found at Umbir

SHILLONG: A body of a woman was found lying inside a private forest at Umbir, Ri Bhoi District on Thursday, police said.

The deceased identified as Iohbianghun Sahkhar worked as Assistant Manager Account in Meghalaya Tourism Development corporation, Shillong.

According to police, th the woman was found with her neck tied with a plastic rope of six rounds and tied to the pine tree and half of the rope from the neck was found about stretch of 28.3 mtrs from the dead body .

The body was found lay on the ground with neck tilted to the side and tongue portruded and both eyes slightly open and some bluish marks found on the left hand .

No any other major injury found on checking except for a bluish colour on the jaw line on the right side.

Police said they recovered one pair of shoes and black ladies bag containing few articles like knife , nail cutter, homeopathic pills , water bottle, mobile phone and ID card found next to the dead body. They were seized in presence of headman and available witness. Through her identity card she was easily identified.

The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Nongpoh for post mortem and police are suspecting it as case of murder.
