BSF and Police seize Rs 70,000 in fake notes at Meghalaya border
In a major operation along the Indo-Bangladesh border, Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya, in coordination with local police, apprehended an Indian woman found in possession of counterfeit currency. The operation was conducted under the jurisdiction of South West Khasi Hills district, Meghalaya, on Saturday.
According to a statement from the PRO BSF Meghalaya, “Acting on specific information, a joint team of 193 Bn BSF and Meghalaya Police carried out a search operation in a house in Gumaghat area near the International border and recovered Fake Indian Currency notes having face value of Rs 70,000/- in denomination of Rs 500.”
The apprehended woman and the seized FICN have been handed over to Ranikor Police Station for further investigation and legal action.
