The Border Security Force (BSF) in Meghalaya apprehended three Indian nationals involved in smuggling activities on August 12. The arrests took place in the South Garo Hills district when troops from the 181 Battalion intercepted a vehicle suspected of carrying illegal goods intended for smuggling into Bangladesh.
Acting on specific information, a BSF Mobile Check Post stopped the vehicle near the border. During the inspection, the BSF recovered 1,000 kg of sugar concealed under a layer of sand. The driver and co-drivers failed to produce any valid documents pertaining to the consignment of sugar.
