BSF Meghalaya foils cattle smuggling at West Jaintia and East Khasi Hills border
In its ongoing efforts to combat cattle smuggling, vigilant troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya successfully prevented the smuggling of 27 cattle, including oxen and buffaloes, near the international border with Bangladesh within the last 24 hours.
In a statement released on October 13, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of BSF Meghalaya stated that the cattle were intended to be smuggled into Bangladesh through border areas in the West Jaintia Hills and East Khasi Hills districts of Meghalaya.
Acting on specific intelligence, troops from the 4th Battalion BSF conducted special operations along the border. During these operations, they located and seized 27 cattle concealed in a jungle area close to the international border. The cattle were subsequently handed over to the local police station for further legal action.
